Our review

Situated in the centre of the East Ayrshire town of Cumnock, just off the A76, the Dumfries Arms Hotel is a contemporary, stylish boutique hotel that has a rich 300-year history.

Over the years, the hotel has played host to many colourful characters. These include Scotland’s national bard, Robert Burns, who spent many a night at the old hotel bar entertaining the locals, and Sir Walter Scott, the poet and novelist.

One can never forget entering Dumfries Arms Hotel and seeing its grand staircase and marble floors for the first time. A truly elegant period property renovated to its full glory with tasteful and contemporary décor.

There are 28 bedrooms of different styles; all are spacious, have been individually designed and furnished to a high four-star standard, and have all the modern amenities you would expect. Customer service is a key focus and the staff work hard to ensure that every guest has a great stay and visit.

The hotel's restaurant offers informal dining and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner — the standard of food is very good. The bar area has a wide range of malt whiskies and is an excellent location for friends and family to meet and catch up. Recently opened at the front of the hotel is the stylish Bar 54. During the day it offers a wide range of snacks and coffees, while come the evening it serves a great range of cocktails, spirits, wines and beers.

What’s more, the Dumfries Arms Hotel is a stylish and stunning venue for weddings and private events, and can accommodate up to 250 guests. Excellent service and the highest food standards are guaranteed. For smaller events, the private dining room is a light and modern space, boasting a glass atrium and large windows that can be used for meetings as well as social events.

Nearby attractions include the Robert Burns Birthplace and Museum, Culzean Castle and there are many famous golf courses within an easy travelling distance.
