    The Awards recognise the importance of this sector. Nominees will in many instances be a genuine guest alternative to a small hotel but should be classified as a B&B or guest house by VisitScotland. We seek first a high level of hospitality, a hallmark in this category. Comfort and cleanliness are essential, as is a good breakfast, guest privacy and investment in furniture, fixtures and fittings appropriate to the style of the property. We look for hosts with a positive attitude, helpful manner and much local knowledge. The category is considered by specific classes enabling judges to recognise particular types of excellence within this competitive sector. (Winners may choose for the award either term B&B or Guest House as preferred.)
