Our review

Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel dates to 1823, and was once the home of the Royal Scottish Automobile Club. before being developed into a stylish 5 start luxury Hotel. It’s situated in Blythswood Square which considering it’s in the middle of the city is quiet and in the square, is a private garden with attractive old-style railings around the perimeter giving it an elegant feel.

The building has a spacious and glamorous feel, and its share of original features dating from the days when it was the headquarters of the Royal Scottish Automobile Club, during the golden age of motoring. There are pillars and gilded RSAC insignia, but the chosen decoration is more modern, but with subtle reminders of the buildings great past.

All 100 rooms are similarly decorated, with attractive marble in the bathrooms and Harris tweed used for the curtains. There are different styles of rooms to suit your requirements guest through to the Penthouse Suite.

The Salon on the first floor takes you back to days gone by when you can only imagine the finest of visitors to Glasgow shared this space after a day’s motoring, to get here. The space is complimented by a fine cocktail and wine selection.

You must find time to visit the Spa and try the Thermal Suite or one of the many treatments they have available.

The restaurant at the Blythswood Square is both impressive, with high standards of food from an experience Kitchen team and equally well looked after by the Restaurant staff who offer friendly and flawless service. Breakfast is not to be missed with a varied cold buffet selection and ala carte cooked breakfast and if you need it you can make your own Bloody Mary.

For those organising an Event there are excellent facilities including its own Cinema and the famous Rally Bar named after the Monte Carlo Rally which started from Blythswood Square in 1955 and was an original feature of The Royal Scottish Automobile Club.

With its ideal location for the many attractions of the City Centre it’s the only place to stay for those wanting a 5-star experience at the same time.
