Our review

Skeabost House has the most perfect and enviable location on Loch Snizort. This white washed Victorian Mansion (1871) has been beautifully, tastefully and artistically re-imagined in recent years to create a most charming, homely Country House. Just a few miles outside Portree, it offers the perfect base to explore the island whether driving, hiking or biking.

Skye is an outdoor adventure playground for mountain climbers, photographers, artists and bird watchers, as well the most romantic of the Western Isles, a scenic backdrop for a traditional Scottish wedding and for the perfect relaxing retreat.

With just eighteen bedrooms, choose between a traditional four poster in the main house, a fabulous contemporary Garden room with private veranda, or one of the chic, boutique, pier bedrooms with uninterrupted loch views. Sit outside with a glass of wine or Skye ale, and ‘drink’ in the stunning seascape, shimmering distant hills and painterly sunsets.

Wine and dine in the glamorous West Pier Restaurant where you will experience the freshest local produce such as hand dived scallops, Uist crab, Skye venison, foraged mushrooms, freshly picked salad leaves, farmhouse cheese & delicious desserts. Start the evening with a Misty Isle gin in the bar and finish with a nightcap dram of Talisker whisky.

With international guests, the breakfast menu is very well presented with labelled food and drinks on the buffet table given in three languages. Many of the staff come from across Europe so there may always be someone on hand to assist with translation.

The dramatic land and seascapes around Skye are beloved by set jetters who are flocking here from around the globe to visit the famous scenic “film sites” such as Quiraing on the Trotternish Peninsula, Dunvegan Castle, Neist Point Lighthouse, Fairy Glen, the Old Man of Storr and the Cuillin mountain peaks as seen in blockbuster movies such as King Arthur, Macbeth, Prometheus, BFG and Made of Honour.

Families will have a wonderful holiday on Skye and Skeabost will ensure children are well looked after from a spacious bedroom, special menus and the freedom to play around the lovely gardens. The 9-hole golf course will attract teenagers too. Christmas is a magical time here with some very enticing packages for a welcome winter escape for all ages.

With castles, beaches, cliff tops, boat trips, wildlife, cosy pubs, whisky distilleries, local arts and crafts, heritage and history to experience, Skeabost House on the Isle of Skye offers a genuine warm welcome and the finest Hebridean hospitality.
