Scottish Hotel Awards Gala Dinner 2018

30 April 2018

The Scottish Hotel Awards Gala Dinner took place on Sunday 22 April at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh, with over 400 members of the hospitality industry in attendance. Every year since 2003 the national winners are awarded during a live and vibrant ceremony where professionals have the chance to meet and celebrate the achievements of their peers. This year, Chair of Judges Vivien Devlin was joined on stage by well-known broadcaster Grant Stott, who did an outstanding job of hosting the most important evening in the Scottish hospitality calendar. Born in Edinburgh, Stott has worked in the radio and TV industry for over 27 years as a presenter, more recently moving into theatre and comedy.

A superb menu, created by Sheraton executive chef Craig Hart and his team, was enjoyed by all guests and dinnertime entertainment was provided by the well-known pop and soul group Scot Soul and solo vocalist Barbara Bryceland, who became a household name after featuring on both X-Factor and The Voice.

The evening finished with the presentation of the evening’s two most important awards. First came the Fellowship for Contribution to the Industry, which was presented to Chef Jeff Bland of The Balmoral Hotel. However, the highest honour was reserved for Trump Turnberry – A Luxury Collection Resort, which was named Scottish Hotel of the Year 2018.

Research visits will soon begin for new awards season, which will culminate at the next gala dinner on Sunday 28 April 2019.
